5 Easy Maternity Costumes

Whether you’re just a few months pregnant or ready to pop, don’t let having a baby belly hold you back from dressing up at Halloween. Here are some maternity costume ideas to perk up any party this year:
1. Pregnant Britney Spears: Wear a tight tank top, jeans or shorts, flip-flops, and a long blonde wig. You could even carry a baby doll Sean Preston to complete the look, or get the guy in your life to dress up like K-Fed.
2. Treasure Troll Costume: Remember these dolls were all the rage in the 80’s and 90’s? Wear a flesh colored leotard or pants and top. Cover your belly with shiny fabric for the “treasure” part of the troll. Back comb your hair or wig and spray it a bright colour with spray hair dye (hot pink or blue are good choices).
3. Pumpkin Costume. This maternity costume is cute and so easy to create. All you need is a bright orange dress or t shirt and black pants. Use a permanent black marker to draw eyes, a nose and a mouth on the front of the shirt. If you want, accessorize with a brown cap for the stem of the pumpkin and black gloves.
4. Pregnant Bride Costume. Go as the very pregnant bride. Have a groom and get someone to be your dad with a shotgun. Other “unexpected” pregnant characters could be the pregnant nun or pregnant cheerleader.
5. Bowling Ball Costume. Another easy one! Wear all black, stick three dots – paper cut outs, stickers or fabric will do – and you’re a bowling ball.
If you want to hide your pregnancy under your maternity costume rather than flaunt it, you can always go as a ghost or a witch – the sheet or cape will cover the belly.
